Projecting a fashion-boutique can seem kind of a style-exercise to an architect! In this project I tried to put contents more than forms. John is above all a great artist.
I've always admired his talent, even if we come out from different cultures, his world and his cultural references are similar to mine. In this boutique in London there's an immediate immersion in John Richmond's world.
When you enter you find the images he likes: Sex Pistols, Hendrix, David Bowie... and during the defilé the on-line catwalks turn the shop's hall into a kind of a mutant theater!!!
The space, about 500mq, is divided in two levels connected each other by a stair of glass suspended between the wall and a glassy sail 6m high that holds the stairs and the shells, without a single gram of metal! A little technological exploit as a tribute to dear London, home of the real glass hi-tech. John himself has designed the original furniture, like the paintings in Warhol's style of the 60's. It's been a great experience for me to work with John, it has been a pleasure!
